What do the three numbers (# - # - #) represent with regards to fertilizer?

The first number represents Nitrogen (N) which boosts growth and improves the green color of the turf. The second number represents Phosphorous (P) which feeds the grass seedlings and promotes root development. The third number represents Potassium (K) which can strengthen a law’s resistance to drought and disease.

Can I fertilize too much?

Yes. Too much fertilizer can cause rapid growth and “burn out” the lawn. Slow release fertilizer help to prevent this from happening.

How do I know if my lawn needs fertilization?

The best way to determine if your lawn requires certain plant nutrients is to through soil analysis. Testing is easy to do and inexpensive. The results returned to you will include recommendations on the amounts of nutrients and lime that would be beneficial to your lawn.
